Há uns 8 anos atrás comprei umas capas de edredon de flanela para as camas das miúdas. só que depois de 2 ou 3 lavagens desbotaram e eu não gostava de as ver na cama. Guardei-as num armário e nunca mais pensei nisso. Hoje a dar uma volta ao dito armário encontrei-as e lembrei-me de as transformar em lençóis.

Estava cheia de vontade de um projecto de costura. Agora que veio o frio dá mesmo vontade de passar a tarde à volta da máquina de costura. Primeiro descosi as bainhas e depois fiz umas novas bainhas em 2 dos panos. Simples :)
Os lençóis de cima ficaram prontos num instante! Agora faltam os de baixo.

Já descobri na net um tutorial para fazer lençóis ajustáveis e esse será o próximo projecto. Assim que estiverem prontos venho mostrar.

Adoro projectos em que se aproveita aquilo que já se tem. Reduzir, Reutilizar e Reciclar faz todo o sentido. 


About 8 years ago I bought some flannel duvet covers for the girls' beds. After 2 or 3 washes they faded and I did not like to see them in bed. I put them in a closet and I never thought of that again. Today I was putting something in the closet and found them, and I thought it would be great to turn them into sheets.

I was eager for a sewing project. Now that the cold weather has come, it is really nice to spend the afternoon around the sewing machine. First I undid the hems and then made new hems in 2 of the cloths. Simple :)
The top sheets were ready in no time! Now the new project is going to be the bottom ones.
 
I already discovered on the internet a tutorial to make adjustable sheets and this will be the next project. As soon as they are ready, I'll show you.

I love projects that give new use to what we already have. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle makes perfect sense.

Sopa de grão de bico e espinafres »» Chickpea and spinach soup

Todos sabemos que a sopa é fundamental numa alimentação equilibrada. Aqui em casa nunca falta, ao almoço e ao jantar, todos os dias. E não é nenhum sacrifício, antes pelo contrário, todos adoramos!

Mas isto significa que faço sopa dia sim, dia não. Para não cair na monotonia há que variar nos legumes e assim fazer sopas diferentes.

Ontem fiz sopa de grão de bico e espinafres e resolvi partilhar a receita convosco.

Ingredientes: 

- 2 l de água
- 1 colher mal cheia de sopa de sal 

- 1 lata de grão cozido (420g)

- 1 cebola grande 

- 1 dente de alho
- 3 batatas
- 1 chuchu
- 3 cenouras

- 100g de folhas de espinafres frescas

- 50g de massa cotovelos

 - 2 colheres de sopa de azeite

Preparação:

Colocar uma panela ao lume com água e sal. Acrescentar todos os legumes (descascados, lavados e cortados aos pedaços). Juntar meia lata de grão ( reservar metade da lata para adicionar inteiros na sopa). Levar a cozer em lume brando por 30 minutos.

Num tachinho pequeno cozer a massa cotovelos.

Quando os legumes estiverem cozidos juntar o azeite e passar a sopa com a varinha mágica até ficar em creme.

Levar novamente ao lume, juntar a massa e o grão (que se reservou) até levantar fervura. Bom apetite!

We all know that soup is essential in a balanced diet. Here at home we eat it at lunch and dinner every day. And it's no sacrifice, on the contrary, we all love it!
But that means I make soup every other day. To avoid falling into monotony I try to vary the vegetables and so make different soups. 
Yesterday I made chickpea and spinach soup and I decided to share the recipe with you.

 Ingredients:

- 2 l water
- 1 spoonful full of salt 
 
- 1 can of cooked chickpea (420g)
- 1 large onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 potatoes
- 1 chayote
- 3 carrots
- 100g fresh spinach leaves

- 50g pasta 
- 2 tablespoons olive oil

Preparation: 

Put a pan on the fire with water and salt. Add all the vegetables (peeled, washed and cut to pieces). Add half a can of chickpea (put aside half of the can to add whole in the soup). Bring to a simmer for 30 minutes.
On a small pan cook the pasta.
When the vegetables are cooked add the olive oil and  pass the hand blender until creamy.
Bring to the heat again, add the pasta and the chickpea (which you put aside) until boiling. Enjoy your food!

Cama grande »» Big Bed

É oficial, o meu Francisco já não dorme numa cama de grades. Está muito crescido o meu menino.

Para ajudar à transição para a cama grande fiz uma capa de edredon da Patrulha Pata em tamanho grande, que ele adorou! Tinha feito uma muito semelhante para a cama de grades, que podem ver aqui.
Esta capa nova tem 2 lados, um com a imagem em grande de todos os bonecos da Patrulha Pata e um outro lado com imagens pequenas.
O Francisco gostou muito mais do lado com imagens pequenas e disse-me logo que até era mais confortável!

Tivemos foi que arranjar uma barreira de protecção para a cama, pois é bastante alta. Decidi também fazer uma forra para a barreira de protecção.
E já que estava com a mão na massa fiz também uma fronha para almofada!

Tudo muito simples, feito à mão com muito amor.



It's official, my Francisco does not sleep on a crib anymore. My little boy has grown up.

To help the transition to the big bed I made a full size Paw Patrol duvet cover, which he loved! I had made a very similar one for his crib, which you can see here.

This new duvet cover has 2 sides, one with a big picture of all the Paw Patrol figures and another side with small pictures.
Francisco liked the small pictures side much more and told me that it was even more comfortable than the other side!

We had to get a protective barrier for the bed as it is quite high. I also decided to make a cover for the protection barrier.
And since I was with my hand in the dough I also made a pillowcase!

All very simple, handmade with lots of love.

You Are My Sunshine

 Adoro quando me pedem para fazer algo diferente. Fazer um trabalho ao gosto da cliente dá-me imenso gozo. Conversamos, partilhamos fotos ou imagens, trocamos ideias, chegamos ao produto idealizado e por fim o produto é feito. Existe assim todo um processo que é em muito diferente de comprar algo já pronto, igual a tantos outros. Há até uma responsabilidade acrescida de ir de encontro ao que é esperado.

Esta semana seguiu mais uma encomenda personalizada a caminho da sua nova casa. Espero que seja do agrado da cliente. Depois partilho convosco o feedback.
Neste caso o quarto da bebé está decorado com o tema "You are my Sunshine" e todo em tons clarinhos de amarelo, cinza, verde e azul.

 I love it when people ask me to make something different. Making something special for a client gives me great joy. We talk, share photos or images, exchange ideas, come to the idealized product and finally the product is made. There is thus a whole process that is very different from buying something ready, just like so many others. There is even an increased responsibility to meet what is expected.

 This week I worked on another custom order that is already on it's way to it's new home. I hope the customer likes it. I will share the customer's feedback with you. 
In this case the baby's room is decorated with the theme "You are my Sunshine" and all in light shades of yellow, gray, green and blue.

A festa do Francisco »» Francisco's birthday party

Este fim de semana foi muito agitado! Aliás estes últimos meses têm sido muito agitados: foi o Natal, a passagem de ano, o aniversário das miúdas, a segunda festa de aniversário das miúdas e agora o aniversário do Francisquinho.
Para quem como eu gosta de preparar tudo ao pormenor saberá que não é tarefa fácil tanta comemoração tão junta.

O tema da festa já estava escolhido há meses! A Patrulha Pata é a preferida dele sem dúvida nenhuma, apesar de o Blaze estar a ganhar terreno a passos largos.
Voltei a enfeitar a sala como já não fazia há alguns anos. Fartei-me de encher balões e a Patrulha Pata dominou a sala. Ele adorou e é por isso que vale a pena todo o trabalho.
Aqui ficam algumas fotos, poucas e de má qualidade (eu sei), mas com a confusão no dia acabo sempre por me esquecer de tirar fotos em condições. Estas foram tiradas quando estava a começar a pôr a mesa, não pensem que o pessoal passou fome!

This weekend was very busy! In fact these last months have been very agitated: it was Christmas, new year, the girls' birthday, the second birthday party of the girls and now Francisquinho's birthday. 
For those of you who like to prepare everything in detail, you will know that it is no easy task to prepare so many celebrations so close in time.  

The theme of the party was already chosen months ago! Paw Patrol is certainly his favorite, although Blaze is winning points! 
I decorated the room as I had not done for a few years. I got a lot of balloons filled and got Paw Patrol to decorate the room. He loved it and that's why it's worth all the work. 
Here are some photos, few and poor quality (I know), but with the confusion in the day I always forget to take pictures. These were taken when I was starting to set the table, do not think that we went hungry!

Festa para miúdas de 12 anos »» Party for 12 year old girls

Como vos tinha prometido aqui está tudo sobre a festa que preparamos para as miúdas festejarem o aniversário com as suas amigas. A festa foi no dia 8 de Janeiro: 15 miúdas cheias de energia e o Francisco a adorar a confusão e 4 adultos.

Isto de fazer anos a 1 de Janeiro dá direito a duas festas, uma no próprio dia para a família e amigos  e outra para se divertirem com as amigas.
Tivemos muita sorte porque esteve um dia lindo de sol e não muito frio o que propiciou uma festa mais divertida. A festa começou na garagem onde jogaram basquetebol, andaram de patins, de bicicleta e jogaram pingue-pongue. Muito desporto e diversão!
Depois a festa veio para dentro de casa onde jogaram jogos e lancharam.

Para o lanche com as amigas  (preparado por nós as 3 no próprio dia) havia:

Doces:
Bolo de Chocolate recheado com morangos e chantilly em forma de bola de basquetebol.
Gelatinas de pêssego e ananás (servidas em copinhos plásticos transparentes de café)
Mousse de chocolate, natas e bolacha maria às camadas (servida em copinhos plásticos transparentes de café)
Mini Croissants de Nutella
Tarte de Pastel de Nata
Pipocas

Salgados:
Rissóis de Peixe e de Camarão

As I promised here is everything about the girls' second birthday party. The party for their friends was on the 8th january: 15 girls full of energy + Francisco + 4 adults. 

Having your birthday on  January 1st allows the girls to have two parties, one for family and friends and another to have fun with their friends.We were very lucky because it was a beautiful sunny day and not too cold, which helped to have a more fun party.  
The party began in the garage where they played basketball, roller skating, bike riding and played ping-pong. Lots of sport and fun!
Then the party came indoors where they played games and ate.
For the snack with the friends me and the girls had prepared:

Sweets: 
Chocolate cake stuffed with strawberries and whipped cream in a basketball shape . 
Peach and pineapple jelly (served in transparent plastic coffee cups) 
Chocolate mousse, cream and maria biscuit to the layers (served in transparent plastic coffee cups) 
Nutella Mini Croissants 
Egg Tart 
Popcorn 

Salty: 
Fish and Shrimp Patties 
Croquettes 
Sausage Rolls 
Chicken Pies 
Croissants with cheese and ham 
Bread stuffed with chorizo

Obstrução »» Obstruction

Ontem foi dia de limpar a casa. Depois de arrumar tudo no sitio, sacudir os tapetes e limpar o pó começo a aspirar, mas o aspirador só arrasta o lixo de um lado para o outro.
Desmanchei o aspirador todo, até que vejo qualquer coisa mais ou menos a meio do cano.
Munida de vários instrumentos (nem queiram saber) estive 15 minutos a tentar tirar o tal objecto.
Finalmente consegui! Era um jogador de futebol de brincar.
Incrédula como é que aquilo tinha lá entrado, mas ok. Toca a aspirar que se faz tarde.
Passado 5 minutos o aspirador já não aspirava outra vez.
Mau! Será por ser sexta feira 13?
Desmontei tudo outra vez. E conseguia ver outra coisa no tubo!
Mais 15 minutos e saía o 2ª membro da equipa de futebol!
Mas já conseguia ver os pés de mais um.
Meia hora depois tenho quase a equipa toda!

- FRANCISCO!!!!!
- Chamaste, mamã?
- Sim, chamei. Foste tu que pusestes estes brinquedos no aspirador?
- Sim! queria ajudar-te a limpar a casa!

Yesterday was cleaning day. After putting everything in it's place, shaking the dust off the carpets and cleaning the dust I began to vacuum, but the vacuum cleaner only dragged the trash from side to side.
I disassembled the whole vacuum cleaner until I saw something about halfway down the pipe.
Armed with various instruments (you don't want to know) I spent 15 minutes trying to get the object out.
I finally got it! It was a football player toy.
Disbelieving how it had came in there, but okay. Let's just vaccum because it's getting late.
After 5 minutes the vacuum cleaner was not vacuuming again.
Damn! Is it because it's Friday the 13th?
I took it all apart again. And I could see something else in the tube!
Another 15 minutes and the second member of the soccer team was out!
But I could already see the feet of another one .
Half an hour later I have almost the whole team!

- FRANCISCO !!!!!
- You called, Mommy?
- Yeah, I called. Did you put these toys in the vacuum cleaner?
- Yes! I wanted to help you clean the house!

Festas de aniversário »» Birthday Parties

É sempre com um enorme entusiasmo que preparo festas de aniversário, é algo que realmente adoro fazer. 
As festas de aniversário das miúdas têm-se simplificado de ano para ano. Como estão mais crescidas dispensam festas temáticas, com balões e afins.
Mas há algo que não dispensam: casa cheia de família e amigos!
 
Dois meses antes começo os preparativos. Faço uma lista com a ementa e a lista de compras para que nada me falte. Vou vendo as promoções nos supermercados e vou comprando as coisas com antecedência para também poupar algum dinheiro. Se se estiver atento é possível comprar bebidas, salgadinhos, batatas fritas, guloseimas e muitas outras coisas que compõem a festa em promoção.
Começo a preparar com antecedência também rissóis variados, croquetes e empadas, que depois de prontos congelo e ficam prontos a utilizar no dia da festa.

Faço uma lista (já vos disse que adoro listas?) do que vou fazer nos dias anteriores à festa.
No dia anterior há que fazer os bolos, as sobremesas, alterar um pouco a disposição da sala para que haja mais espaço para os convidados, pôr a mesa,  preparar as "mesas" de apoio para as sobremesas, bebidas e copos, talheres, guardanapos e pratos, para que facilmente todos tenham o que precisam à mão.

Este ano tive a ajuda preciosa das minhas duas pequenas grandes masterchefs. Passámos o dia 31 de Dezembro na cozinha as 3, mas valeu a pena. Acho que já lhes incuti este bichinho de fazer coisas sobretudo comidinhas e docinhos para receber a nossa família e amigos com tudo de melhor que podemos oferecer. 

No próprio dia é altura para fazer os últimos preparativos: ter atenção que as bebidas estão frescas, preparar a sapateira recheada, fazer a salada, preparar um prato de frutas descascadas e preparar as entradas. E depois desfrutar da festa e dos convidados que é sempre muito importante para que tudo corra bem.

1 de Janeiro de 2017. 12 anos das minhas gémeas.
Dia 1, dia de ano novo, dia delas, fomos 16 pessoas ao almoço. 

Entradas: 
Rissóis de Peixe e de Camarão, croquetes (1 dúzia de cada)

Leitão Assado à Bairrada com laranja às rodelas, batata frita e salada

Travessa de fruta: Abacaxi, melão, laranja e manga.

À tarde recebemos mais alguns membros da família e alguns amigos especiais (no total éramos 30 pessoas).

Rissóis de Peixe e de Camarão (2 dúzias e meia de cada)
Croquetes (2 dúzias)
Folhadinhos de Salsichas (24 unidades)
Empadinhas de Frango (3 dúzias)

Frango de Churrasco

Doces:
2 bolos de aniversário de chocolate (camisolas de basquetebol)
1 bolo de pão de ló recheado com doce de ovos (tentativa de semelhança a uma bola de basquetebol)
Torta de Maçã
Mini Croissants de Nutella
Pasteis de Tentúgal caseiros (receita aqui)
Suspiros

Bebidas:
Sumos, cerveja e vinhos, chá, chocolate quente e café.

As miúdas ADORAM esta festa, mas gostam também da que fazemos no fim de semana seguinte para as amigas delas.

It's always with great enthusiasm that I prepare birthday parties, it's something I really love doing.The girls' birthday parties have been simplified from year to year. As they grow up they do not need themed parties.But there is something they do need and want: our home filled with family and friends!

Two months before the preparations begin. I make a list with the menu and the shopping list so that nothing is missing. I will see the promotions in the supermarkets and I will buy things in advance to save some money. If you are aware you can buy drinks, snacks, chips, treats and many other things that make up the party on sale.

I begin to prepare in advance also varied patties, croquettes and chicken pies, which after ready you can put in the freezer and are ready to use on the day of the party. 
I make a list (have I told you I love lists?) of what I'm going to do in the days before the party.The previous day we have to make the cakes, the desserts, change the layout of the room so that there is more space for the guests, set the table, prepare the side tables for desserts, drinks and glasses, cutlery, napkins and dishes, so that everyone can easily have what they need at hand.


This year I had the precious help of my two little great masterchefs. The 3 of us spent the 31st of December in the kitchen, but it was worth it. I think I've already instilled in them this little pleasure to make things, mainly food and sweets, to welcome our family and friends with all the best we can offer.

On the day of the party it is time to make the last preparations: be sure that the drinks are fresh, prepare the stuffed crab, make the salad, prepare a plate of peeled fruit and prepare the entrees. And then enjoy the party and the guests it is always very important for everything to go well.

January 1, 2017. 12 years of my twins. 
Day 1, New Year's Day, their day, we were 16 people for lunch.

Appetizers: 
Fish and Shrimp patties, croquettes (1 dozen each) 
Stuffed crab with toasted bread 
Cheese plate 

Main course: 
Roasted suckling pig with orange slices, potato chips and salad 

Desserts: 
Chocolate Delight (layers of chocolate mousse, cream and Maria biscuit ) 
Pineapple pudding 
Fruit plate: Pineapple, melon, orange and mango. 

In the afternoon we received a few more family members and some special friends (in total there were 30 people). 

Salty:Fish and Shrimp Patties (2 and half dozen each) 
Croquettes (2 dozen) 
Sausage Rolls (24 units) 
Chicken Pies (3 dozen) 
Barbecue chicken 

Sweets: 
2 chocolate birthday cakes (basketball jerseys) 
1 sponge cake with custard cream (our try to make a basketball) 
Apple pie 
Nutella Mini Croissants 
Homemade Tentúgal pastries (recipe here) 
meringues 

Drinks:  
Juices, beer and wine, tea, hot chocolate and coffee. 

The girls LOVE this party, but they also like the one we have the following weekend for their friends.In a next post I will tell you how I organize a party for children only!

Primeiros dias do ano »» First days of the year

Como podem perceber, pela minha falta de notícias o início do ano foi intenso!

Ainda no ano velho começaram os preparativos para o GRANDE dia. 

E não, não me refiro à passagem de ano!

O GRANDE dia é o aniversário das miúdas. Alegria a dobrar!

1 de Janeiro de 2017. 12 anos. 20 adultos e 10 crianças. 

Casa cheia de família e amigos. Uma festa partilhada como eu espero que seja sempre pela vida fora. 

2 de Janeiro de 2017. 40 anos. Nós os 5. O meu aniversário.

8 de Janeiro de 2017. Festa para as amigas: 15 miúdas cheias de energia e o Francisco a adorar a confusão.

 

Foram dias fantásticos e felizes. E de muito trabalho, para mim, mas também para elas que ajudaram em tudo.

Com tanta confusão só agora é que deu para perceber que chegou um novo ano. E com ele 365 oportunidades para sermos felizes.

E agora começam os preparativos para a festa do Francisco, que é já no inicio de Fevereiro!

As you might have guessed, due to my lack of news the beginning of the year was intense! 

The preparations for the GREAT day began in the old year.
And no, I do not mean the New Year!
GREAT day is the girls' birthday. Joy to double!
 

January 1, 2017. 12 years old. 20 adults and 10 children.
House full of family and friends. A shared party like I expect it will always be throught out their life.

January 2, 2017. 40 years old. Just the 5 of us. My birthday.

January 8, 2017. Party for friends: 15 girls full of energy and Francisco loving the confusion.

These were fantastic and happy days. And a lot of work, for me, but also for the girls who helped in everything.
With so much confusion only now it is possible to realize that a new year has arrived. And with it 365 opportunities to be happy.

And now preparations begin for Francisco's birthday party, which is already at the beginning of February!
